Police raid in Madrid kills three bombing suspects

Three suspects of the Madrid train bombings were killed in a blast Saturday night during a raid wherean agent of the National Police Corp, possibly a member of the Special Operations Group, also died, radio and press reports quoted police as stating.

The operation was conducted in Leganes, 20 kilometers south of capital Madrid, against an alleged cell of Islamic terrorists, sources of the probe said.

The sources added several people suffered injuries of differentlevels during clashes between police agents and the alleged terrorists who were entrenched in the building.

The police raid backed by helicopters was launched at 06:00 p.m.local time (1600 GTM) and at 09:00 p.m. (1900 GTM) a blast that led to the arrival of 15 ambulances and effectives of the Firemen Corp was reported.
