PLA Chief meets the Philippines Air Force Commander

Liang Guanglie, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Commander of the Philippines Air Force Nestor R Santillan in Beijing on April 2.

Liang Guanglie, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Commander of the Philippines Air Force Nestor R Santillan in Beijing on April 2.

Liang said bilateral relations between China and Philippines and their armed forces have enjoyed smooth development since the two sides established diplomatic ties.

To consolidate and develop friendly cooperation of the two sides is in the fundamental interests of peoples of two sides and also conducive to stability and prosperity of this region, he said.

Exchanges of high-level visits between the two armed forces are frequent in recent years, he said, stressing China is willing to make joint efforts with Philippines counterparts to strengthen existing friendly relations.

Santillan expressed his hope that this visit could consolidate friendly exchanges between two countries and two armed forces, especially exchanges between the two air forces.

Santillan said the Philippines air force is eager to learn fromtheir Chinese counterparts about modernization.

Santillan arrived in Beijing Thursday to start his four-day formal visit to China at the invitation of Qiao Qingchen, commander of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
