Bus plunges into river, leaving 7 dead in Sichuan

A bus plunged into the Fuxi Riverin Zigong City of southwest China's Sichuan Province on Wednesday afternoon, leaving at least seven people died, an official with the provincial work safety supervision department said.

A bus plunged into the Fuxi River in Zigong City of southwest China's Sichuan Province on Wednesday afternoon, leaving at least seven people died, an official with the provincial work safety supervision department said.

So far, the accurate number of the injured and the passengers on the bus is not available, said the official, who refused to give his name.

Witness said the accident took place at around 14 p.m., which is at the rush hour for many citizens going back to work or schoolafter a noon break.

Rescue work is being processed and police is investigating the cause of the accident.
