The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Tuesday said that it is opposed to all separatist moves to change the present status of Taiwan and consistently supports the Chinese people in their efforts to reunify the country according to the one-China policy, the policy of peaceful reunification and the "one country, two systems" principle.

"The government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the territory of China, irrespective of the election results," said a spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry as regards the complicated situation in Taiwan.

"We are closely following the situation of chaos in Taiwan," the spokesman added.

The results of the "presidential election" held in Taiwan on March 20 has sparked serious controversy and strong protests.
