CPC Politburo meeting held to boost grain production
The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held a meeting Monday to study policies to increase grain production and encourage grain growers.
The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held a meeting Monday to study policies to increase grain production and encourage grain growers.
General Secretary Hu Jintao presided over the meeting, which urged all localities and departments concerned to implement central policies to increase farmers' income.
Resolving problems regarding agriculture, rural areas and farmers must be put on top agenda of the Party, the meeting concluded. It called for greater efforts to decrease agricultural taxes and reduce financial burdens of farmers in a substantial way.
It also ordered to crack down on fraudulent activities against farmers and protect their interests.
The meeting also discussed the reform of personnel management and some other issues.
