China values the traditional friendship with the Republic of Congo and is willing to expand the friendly cooperation between the two countries, said Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong Friday.
Zeng made the remarks when meeting with Rodolphe Adada, visiting minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and French Affairs of the Republic of Congo.
Zeng said since the two countries established diplomatic ties 40 years ago and the friendly cooperation between China and the Republic of Congo has witnessed sound and stable development, with close exchanges in politics, sincere cooperation in economy, culture and education, and close coordination and mutual support in international affairs.
Zeng expressed appreciation to the government of the Republic of Congo for attaching importance to developing friendly cooperation with China, for adherence to the one-China policy and for supporting China in such international issues as human rights.
Zeng noted that China and the Republic of Congo, as two developing countries, share similar experiences and face similar tasks of development.
China is willing to regard the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as a new starting point, and make efforts to further promote the bilateral cooperative relations, Zeng said.
Adada agreed with Zeng on his evaluation of the bilateral ties, expressing his thankfulness for the unselfish assistance provided by China in the past long time and expressing his hope to further expand cooperation with China in various fields.
Adada said the government of the Republic of Congo spoke highly of China's foreign policy of peace and China's diplomatic efforts to solve international and regional issues.
Adada noted that the Republic of Congo firmly opposes such separatist activities as the so-called "referendum" in Taiwan, and will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.
