on Friday test fired its most sophisticated surface-to-air Trishul missile for the second consecutive day.
The short-range missile was indigenously developed by the Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP), the Press Trust of India reported.
The missile was test fired from a mobile launcher at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur of central India's Orissastate, said the report.
The missile was successfully test fired from the ITR Thursday.
The three-meter-long missile with a diameter of 200 cm can fly at supersonic speed. It has a sensitive radar altimeter and heightlock-loop control on board which helps it to skim over the sea at very low altitude.
The solid-fuel-propelled missile has a triple battlefield role for the army, air force and navy and has a range of nine km with the capacity to carry a payload of 15 kg.
