Chinese vice-premier arrives in Phnom Penh

Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi arrived here Sunday morning, continuing her five-day official visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng.

Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi arrived here Sunday morning, continuing her five-day official visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng.

Wu Yi was welcomed by her Cambodian counterpart Sar Kheng and other Cambodian senior officials at the Phnom Penh International Airport.

Accompanying Wu is a group of some 40 leading Chinese entrepreneurs, coming here to sign several cooperative agreements with Cambodian side and to conduct a feasibility study on some cooperation projects.

During her stay, Wu will hold a bilateral meeting with Sar Kheng, and to pay courtesy calls on Cambodia's acting Head of State and Senate President Chea Sim, Prime Minister Hun Sen and FUNCINPEC party President Prince Norodom Ranariddh.

Wu's visit is to promote the bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The two sides are expected to sign a package of agreements on bilateral economic cooperation.

Wu Yi arrived in Siem Reap Province on Friday afternoon, home of world famed Angkor Wan temples. It is Wu's second leg of her four-nation tour to Southeast Asia and South Asia that will also take her to Myanmar and Maldives. Wu's first stop was Laos.
