The death toll of the dengue fever across Indonesia has reached 452, a senior official of the Health Ministry said in Jakarta Monday.
"The number of death toll today across Indonesia is 452 people and some 5,000 sufferers are still in hospitals," Ritakusriastuti told Xinhua.
Some 90 percent of the sufferers have recovered and returned home from hospitals since mid-January when the disease began to spread in the country, she said.
Previously, spokeswoman of the ministry, Mariani Reksoprojo said that some 12 of the 30 infected provinces still had extraordinary cases.
Secretary General of the Prevention of the Infectious Disease of the Health Ministry Syafei Achmad said the attacks were different from the normal five years cycle as the change of rainy season from October, November and December to the January and February. The fever was infected by aedes aegpty mosquitowhich carried the virus.
