The bomb was discovered while a dozen workers were unloading waste iron materials at the harbor. A huge object picked up by the crane attracted the workers, who laid it down and found it to be alarge rusty bomb.

After being informed, the harbor police immediately rushed to the scene and launched an investigation.

The 1.2-meter-long bomb weighs about 300 kilograms, with a diameter of 50 centimeters, police said.

According to experts, the bomb, with its surface marked with a clear date, was dropped by a Japanese plane during World War II.

It is fortunate that the bomb has been discovered at the harbor,or it would have exploded in a furnace if it had been melted down as scrap, experts said.

The police are still investigating how the bomb got into the waste metal pile.
