Poisoning kills 20 Chinese in February

The Chinese Health Ministry said here Wednesday that poisoning killed 20 people and sickened 462 others on the Chinese mainland in February.

The Chinese Health Ministry said here Wednesday that poisoning killed 20 people and sickened 462 others on the Chinese mainland in February.

Among them, six died and 14 were infected by poisonous materials at their workplaces and food poisoning killed 14 people and sickened 448, according to the ministry.

Among the people suffering from food poisoning, nine died from eating rotten food at home. The ministry said food poisoning at home is the number one killer.

Schools, where 399 people were sickened, were the places affecting the most of the victims, and the ministry will pay more attention to these areas.
