The government of North China's Tianjin Municipality will improve its service standards and facilitate procedures for Taiwanese investors, says Mayor Dai Xianglong.
Taiwan-funded enterprises provided funds for Tianjin's development, and brought modern technologies and management expertise, he said.
Dai said Tianjin would focus on the development of the information technology industry, car manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, the chemical industry, metallurgy and the application of new energy forms, so as to upgrade its comprehensive economic capacity.
The government should provide high quality services for enterprises of different ownership, he said.
Tianjin would make long-term plans to improve the investment environment and cut costs for investors, Dai said.
The municipal government would help solve concrete problems of work and life for Taiwanese investors and protect their legal rights.
By the end of 2003, Tianjin had 1,675 Taiwan-funded enterprises, with a total investment of over US$4 billion.
