The White House said Saturday that Libya has sent all its remaining equipment related to nuclear weapons program and relevant delivery systems to the United Statesin an effort to fulfill its promise of giving up all weapons of mass destruction.
White House National Security Council spokesman Sean McCormack said that a ship loaded with 500 metric tons of related equipment, including uranium enriching facilities and long-range missiles andlaunchers, left Libya on Saturday for an undisclosed destination in the United States.
"It's coming to the United States. We're not saying where or when for security reasons," McCormack told reporters in President George W. Bush's private ranch in Crawford, Texas.
The administration had said that earlier shipments of Libya's nuclear weapons-related equipment and materials were sent to a secure place in Tennessee.
According to McCormack, Libya's all known deployable chemical weapons have already been destroyed.
Stocks of mustard gas, an agent for chemical weapons, have alsobeen gathered in a single secure facility in Libya and will be destroyed under assistance from the United States.
