Achievements in graphics: 2003 review

During the last 25 years since the Third Plenum of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC, China has made monumental progress both in the theory and practice of economic restructuring. It has made an historic breakthrough in establishing a preliminary socialist market economy.

During the last 25 years since the Third Plenum of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC, China has made monumental progress both in the theory and practice of economic restructuring. It has made an historic breakthrough in establishing a preliminary socialist market economy.

Since the Third Plenum of the 11th Central Committee, particularly since the Fourth Plenum of the 13th CPC Central Committee Chinese communists have firmly grasped the main theme of development, persisted in the central task of economic development and accomplished resplendent successes in the reform, opening-up and modernization drive.

During the past 25 years China's economy has kept an average annual growth of 9.3 percent. In 2003 China's GDP exceeded 11 trillion yuan. People's overall living standards have realized the historic leapfrog progress from simply having enough food and clothing to leading a relatively comfortable life. Socialist China is changing with each passing day and moving toward prosperity.

These hard-won achievements are deeply embodied in Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping theory and the important thoughts of "Three Represents", in the Party's basic lines, basic program and experience and in the series of principles and policies of the Party and State, which have been adopted since the Third Plenum of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC.

Brilliant achievements are displayed through graphics. We are very proud of the splendid accomplishments that have been achieved in the reform, opening up and modernization drive. Having looked at these graphics we are more convinced than ever that the goal of struggle set by the 16th CPC National Congress for building a well-off society in an all-round way will certainly be realized so long as we work in a down-to-earth manner and make explorations and progress.

After traversing an extraordinary course over the past 25 years, China is now standing on a new starting point.
