With resources from the Chinese Translation Bureau of Nationality Language and Culture, 150 translators will provide simultaneous interpretation of report in seven minorities' languages at the NPC and CPPCC meetings this year. Up to now, the preparation work for translation of major documents has been completed.
This year, the major documents of the NPC and CPPCC meetings will be translated into languages of Mongol, Tibetan, Uygur, Kazakstan, Korean, Yi, and Zhuang, said Tang Xiaowu, Deputy Party Secretary of the Chinese Translation Bureau of Nationality Language and Culture. More than 100 interpreters will provide interpretation service to the representatives and commissioners during their stay in Beijing.
Though the minority commissioners and representatives at the meetings understand the Chinese and their own languages, the simultaneous interpretation is provided not only for their convenience but also to meet the needs of ethnic minority people living in the vast regions. Hearing voice in their own language will undoubtedly make the minority commissioners and representatives feel proud of themselves.
The Chinese Translation Bureau of Nationality Language and Culture was established in 1956. It provides minority language translations and simultaneous interpretation to party congress every five years and the annually held NPC and CPPCC as well as other important conferences.
