A new round of Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Promotion Committee talks will be held in Seoul starting on Tuesday, marking the first inter-Korean dialogue since the end of the six-party meeting in Beijing on Saturday.

A DPRK delegation led by Choe Yong-gon, vice minister of construction material and industry, will arrive at Incheon International Airport via Beijing in the afternoon.

The four-day talks, the eighth of their kind, will begin two days earlier than originally scheduled after Pyongyang officials sent a fax early Friday asking for the rescheduling due to flight problems.

The Northern delegates are to meet with their southern counterparts, led by Finance and Economy Vice Minister Kim Gwang-lim, and are also scheduled to tour the LG Science Exhibition in Yoido, Seoul.

Officials said the main topic for the talks will be three major bilateral cooperation projects-- the reconnection of two sets of cross-border railways and roads; the construction of an industrial complex in Kaesong, a DPRK city near the inter-Korean border; and a tourism project to the North's scenic Mt. Kumgang.

Delegates are also expected to discuss various measures to ensure smooth operation of the joint projects.

The two Koreas last week signed an agreement on the South's provision of materials for the reconnection of the inter-Korean railroads and roads, and adopted a joint statement on maritime cooperation.

DPRK had earlier made a request at an inter-Korean ministerial meeting in Seoul last month, asking for 200,000 tons of rice for the spring.

The seventh inter-Korean economic meeting was held for four days in Pyongyang from Nov. 5 last year.
