China offers scholarship to top athletes

A total of 1,360 athletes and sports retirees from across China were awarded sports scholarship in a ceremony in Beijing on Feb. 26.

A total of 1,360 athletes and sports retirees from across China were awarded sports scholarship in a ceremony in Beijing on Feb. 26.

The sports scholarship was founded by the State Sports General Administration, China's sports governing body, for top athletes and those who were just retired from competition to further their study outside sports area.

It was announced that the scholarships range from 3,000 yuan (360 U.S. dollars) to 15,000 yuan (1,800 U.S. dollars).
