China offers aid to quake-hit Morocco: FM
China will offer Morocco five million yuan (600,000 US dollars) worth of materials in emergency humanitarian aid to the African nation's quake-hit areas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Feb. 26.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said in a press release that China was concerned about the situation in Morocco and in a telephone call with Moroccan King Mohammad VI, Chinese President Hu Jintao had extended condolences to the earthquake victims.
In addition, the Red Cross Society of China had provided 30,000US dollars in humanitarian assistance to Morocco's Red Cross Society and Chinese medical teams also participated in the rescue operations immediately after the earthquake, Zhang said.
An earthquake measuring at 6.1 on the Richter scale rocked northeastern Morocco early Tuesday, killing more than 500 people and injured over 400 others.
