Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat on Tuesday called on the US administration and Quartet committee to promptly act and salvage the peace process through the implementation of the roadmap plan.
Arafat made the statement in a press conference after talks with visiting Swiss President Adolph Ogey and head of the United Nations development program Timothy Rothmell in Ramallah.
The meetings tackled the latest developments in the Palestinian territories in light of the Israeli military aggressions and its consequences on the Palestinians' lives.
The roadmap peace plan, drafted by the Quartet committee comprising the United States, United Nations, European Union and Russia, requires mutual steps to be taken by Israel and the Palestinians toward peace and envisions an independent Palestinian state alongside with Israel by 2005.
