Beginning from tomorrow, Beijing citizens can send short messages through their mobile phones to get themselves closer to the forthcoming annual meetings of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), to be opened respectively on the 5th and 3rd of this month.
Through the format of short message, residents can not only get the latest news from the two meetings but send their suggestions and questions to the NPC and CPPCC deputies so as to exercise their rights by taking part in and discussing on the nation's political affairs.
As learned this is the first time that the mobile phone short message is opened in preparation for the NPC and CPPCC meetings.
The service is jointly brought forward by China Mobile, the news center of the NPC and CPPCC meetings and other units, which will be formally launched Tuesday, a China Mobile source said. Short messages carrying people's opinions and suggestions will be forwarded to the hands of the deputies attending the two meetings.
What's more, during the two meetings, People.com.cn will invite a NPC deputy or a CPPCC member every day to its "Strong Nation Forum" to answer questions raised by mobile phone users. Citizens can also log on the Internet to communicate directly with the deputies.
China Unicom, another major telecommunication operator of China, will also open short message service for the NPC and CPPCC meetings soon, as informed by the company.
