Yao leads Rockets to outclass Hawks in triple overtime
Chinese center Yao Ming was unstoppable on Feb. 22 night, scoring a career-high 41 points and leading the Houston Rockets to take a grueling 123-121 home victory over the Atlanta Hawks in triple overtime.
Chinese center Yao Ming was unstoppable on Sunday night, scoring a career-high 41 points and leading the Houston Rockets to take a grueling 123-121 home victory over the Atlanta Hawks in triple overtime.
Yao played 50 minutes, made 15-of-21 shots including eight points in the last of three overtimes, and also had 16 rebounds and seven assists for the Rockets in NBA's longest game since the 2000-2001 season.
Atlanta centers Joel Przybilla and Zeljko Rebraca both fouled out trying to stop the 7-foot-6 (2.27 meters) Yao.
Cuttino Mobley added 28 points, while Steve Francis, who was fouled out with 37 seconds left in the third extra period, had 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
Jason Terry scored 27 points for Atlanta, while Stephen Jackson had 24 points.
