China opposes construction of Israeli separation wall

China opposes Israel's construction of "separation wall" that runs into the occupied Palestinian territory, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue here Monday.

China opposes Israel's construction of "separation wall" that runs into the occupied Palestinian territory, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue in Beijing on Feb. 23.

Asked to comment on the International Court of Justice deliberation on the legality of the wall, Zhang said the construction of "separation wall" on Palestinian territory would not fundamentally settle Israel's security concerns, but would rather intensify contradictions and mutual distrust between the two sides.

She said China held that the confrontation between Israel and Palestine should be solved through dialogue and political negotiations, Zhang noted.

China sincerely hoped that relevant parties could consider the overall situation and adopt positive measures to promote peace process in the Middle East, the spokeswoman said.
