BOC vice-chairman sacked for suspected corruption

Bank of China (BOC) Vice-Chairman Liu Jinbao has been sacked for suspected involvement in economic crimes and is under official investigation, the bank's spokesman said Friday.

Bank of China Vice-Chairman Liu Jinbao has been sacked for suspected involvement in economic crimes and is under official investigation, the bank's spokesman said Friday.

"The board of directors of the bank has decided to dismiss Liu Jinbao from his position of vice-chairman and the decision has been approved," spokesman Wang Zhaowen said at the press briefing.

"Judicial organs are carrying out investigations on Liu according to legal procedures," Wang said, without providing further details.
