Vice president calls for sound Sino-Japanese relations

Vice President Zeng Qinghong Friday said that China and Japan should, in the spirit of drawing lessons from history and facing the future and following the principle of the Sino-Japanese joint statement, promote political trust and economic cooperation.

Zeng made the remarks when meeting with visiting Noda Takeshi, chairman of the Japan-China Society, and his party at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Zeng said that China and Japan have had fruitful cooperation since the two countries forged diplomatic ties, with the efforts of both official and unofficial circles. The economic and trade cooperation benefits the two peoples, he added.

He hoped that the politicians of the two countries would inherit the friendly tradition, and remove obstacles, so as to further the relationship in the new century.

Noda Takeshi said the friendship between Japan and China is important, and the two countries have been increasingly interdependent on economy, thus should make joint efforts to overcome difficulties to further the friendly relations.
