Also known as "2008 Stars", Chinese national junior team A tied with Japan 0-0 in Jinmen while junior Chinese team B downed South Korea 1-0 in Jinzhou. Yan Shiduo, vice-president of the Chinese Football Association, watched the game in Jinmen.
All the players of the home and visiting teams are young blood picked up as part of their respective countries' build-up for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Chinese junior team A dominated most of the game against Japan, but were shown three yellow cards. Both sides failed to score.
"Our players are too young and they lack international experience," said Chinese coach Jia Xiuquan, a former national team member who had played in former Yugoslavia and Japan as China's earliest international.
Chinese national junior team B, formed with players from Hubei Province, had to put off a tough challenge by the South Koreans in the early stage of their friendly game. The aggressive visitors were awarded with five corners and two front-court free-kicks in the first 15 minutes. But the home side came back strong in the second half, with captain Yao Hanlin scoring the sole goal through a diving header at the 78th minute.
