National industrial unions in China should directly investigate problems concerning overdue payment of migrant workers and industrial injury insurance, Su Liqing, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, said Thursday.
The overdue payment of migrant workers, especially peasant workers in construction fields, has aroused unprecedented attention in China this year, and the central government has called for finding proper solution to the problem across the country.
Su, at a meeting on the establishment of trade unions among migrant workers, said national industrial unions should directly investigate those problems and difficulties faced by migrant workers that cannot be solved by local trade unions or enterprises.
Overtime working, overdue payment and frequent industrial injuries are problems deeply concerning all levels of trade unions,Su said, noting industrial unions should help local organizations to establish trade unions among peasant workers before they migrate to cities.
