A senior official with the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee says preparations for the 2008 Games are well on schedule.

Vice Chairman of the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee Liu Jingmin says the Chinese capital has accomplished all its first-phase targets.

Last year, four major Olympic stadiums broke ground. Eleven more stadiums and facilities will begin construction this year.

The official also pledges that the whole process of Olympic venue construction will be open and transparent.

More than 30 stadiums and gymnasiums will be built for the Beijing Olympics.

The organisers have promised to complete all projects in 2007, one year before the Games open. Enditem
