Beijing keeps rising economic growth in 2003
The national capital of Beijing maintained a good economic growing momentum in 2003, acting mayor Wang Qishan said Monday in Beijing.

maintained a good economic growing momentum in 2003, acting mayor Wang Qishan said Monday in Beijing.
The gross domestic product of Beijing soared 10.5 percent to reach 361.19 billion yuan (43 billion US dollars) last year, Wang said in his government report delivered at the second session of the 12th Beijing Municipal People's Congress, which opened here Monday.
Explaining the reason for the city's high economic growth, Wang said his government had accelerated readjustment of economic structures and boosted the industries of automobile and new, high technologies.
The investment in fixed assets came to 215.71 billion yuan (about 26 billion US dollars), up by 18.9 percent. Export by local enterprises surged 24.9 percent to 7.37 billion US dollars and the use of direct foreign investment went up by 19.8 percent to 2.15 billion US dollars.
Major industrial enterprises in Beijing municipality gained total profits of 21.95 billion yuan (2.6 billion US dollars), up by 40.6 percent. The revenue was 59.25 billion yuan (over 7 billion dollars), up by 18.2 percent.
The annual per capita disposable income of urban residents in Beijing averaged 13,883 yuan (1,670 dollars), up by 11.2 percent. The farmers' per-capita net income was 6,496 yuan (782 dollars) a year, up by 11.5 percent.
The registered unemployment rate of urban residents was 1.43 percent last year.
