WHO praises China's bird flu control work

The World Health Organization has expressed satisfaction towards the Chinese government's transparency and cooperation in the struggle against the bird flu epidemic.

The World Health Organization has expressed satisfaction towards the Chinese government's transparency and cooperation in the struggle against the bird flu epidemic.

A WHO spokeswoman said governments at all levels in China are taking urgent measures in culling birds infected with avian influenza and so there has been no human infection.

She added the WHO has confirmed three new cases of bird flu infected patients globally, bringing the total number of human patients to 23, of which 18 have died.
