Laos has taken bold measures to control the bird flu outbreak after its samples sent to Thailand and Vietnam tested positive to H5N1.
The Lao government has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to keep collecting samples for testing, and called for local people to protect themselves from bird flu infections, according to Laos' news agency KPL on Thursday.
The ministry has already coordinated with the Ministry of Health to make surveillance on the situations, and eventually contain bird flu.
Local authorities have destroyed chickens and their products atchicken houses in two rural districts of Vientiane capital city, and banned all activities of trading and transporting chickens andrelated products from the districts to others.
Bird flu has killed more than 35,000 chickens in Vientiane. But,there have not been any cases of bird flu infection in human reported in the country.
