Head-on smash kills one, injures 13 in south China

A head-on collision between a minibus and a coach in Wuzhou City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has left one person dead and 13 injured, the local police said Thursday.

A head-on collision between a minibus and a coach in Wuzhou City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has left one person dead and 13 injured, the local police said on Jan. 29.

The accident happened at 6:50 a.m. on Jan. 28 on the Huoshan section in the southern downtown area when a minibus suddenly hit a coach coming towards it. One died at the scene and 13 were injured.

Police blocked the road and firemen rescued the minibus driver and conductor who were trapped in the wreckage.

The injured were taken to hospital.

Police believe the wet weather and excessive speed may have contributed to the crash. Further investigations are underway.
