Beijing is home to many institutes of higher education and it was important to expand the influence of the Party on campus, Zhu Shanlu, standing committee member of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, told the conference.
Party organizations should work actively and carefully to absorb more young students and teachers, Zhu said.
From 2007, Party members will account for 12 percent of undergraduates and 35 percent of postgraduates. Also, 45 percent of teachers under 35 will be Party members, according to Zhu.
