Chinese leaders, people celebrate Spring Festival

Chinese leaders and representatives from all walks of life gathered in the Great Hall of the People Tuesday morning to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival, the most important traditional occasion in China which falls on Jan. 22 this year.

Chinese leaders and representatives from all walks of life gathered in the Great Hall of the People Tuesday morning to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival, the most important traditional occasion in China which falls on Jan. 22 this year.

Chinese President Hu Jintao presided over the gathering hosted by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao addressed the meeting.

Top CPC, military and government leaders including Jiang Zemin,Wu Bangguo, Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Huang Ju, Wu Guanzheng, LiChangchun and Luo Gan were present at the gathering.

Senior CPC, military and government officials and representatives of retirees, non-communist parties and bodies, ethnic minorities and academic circles exchanged Lunar New Year greetings and wishes.
