Eleven people including four children were killed in a bombing attack by a US helicopter against a southern Afghan village, local sources said on Monday.
The air attack against a farmhouse at Saghatho village of Uruzgan province took place early Sunday, one day after US troops carried out a search operation for suspected Taliban fighters at the village.
A provincial official in Uruzgan confirmed the civilian casualties in the US bombing at the village, saying that the 11 victims had been buried later on the same day.
Meanwhile, three US soldiers were injured on Sunday when a group of suspected Taliban fighters made an attack at a US military base in the same province, a US military spokesman said here earlier on Monday.
Over 11,500 US-led coalition forces are currently deployed in different Afghan areas, especially southern and eastern provinces, hunting down remnants of the ousted Taliban movement and al-Qaeda network.
