Two attempts of plane explosion and hijacking were successfully prevented, making 2003 a safe year for air transportation and control.

1200-plus scheduled air-routes are opened. A fairly fully-fledged network for domestic and international air transportation in connection with major countries and regions of the rest of the world has taken shape. There are 660 planes in service. Civil aviation treaties have been signed or renewed with five countries including Iceland.
