Twenty people from Chinese companies and a non-governmental group are on their way abroad two fishing vessels to the sea area off China's Diaoyu Islands for an inspection tour of a tourism route.

At about 10 p.m. January 13, at the remark of Tong Zeng, President of the Chinese Civilian Association for Safeguarding the Diaoyu Islands two investigation ships left us for Xiamen of south China's Fujian Province, heading for the waters of Diaoyu Islands.

The voyage aims to visit the Diaoyu Islands and make preparations for developing the tourism from Xiamen to Diaoyu Islands. People in involved will make in-depth investigation into the Diaoyu Islands and its adjacent waters on the water features, climate, fishery and environmental protection, and will evaluate the tourist resources and the value of development. They will formulate development plans under the condition that Diaoyu Islands and the natural environment of its sea be well protected.

The voyage is jointly organized by Chinese Civilian Association for Safeguarding the Diaoyu Islands, Zhongxiang Investment Co., Ltd, Guagnzhou Xinglong Investment Co., Ltd and Chinese Association for Safeguarding Sea Power.

Diaoyu Islands located in northeast of Keelung, Taiwan, have always been part of China's territory under the jurisdiction of China since the very ancient times as important fishing zone for fishermen in coastal areas of southeast China and important port for passing vessels. The islets which are close to the China's southeast coast and northeast of Taiwan, boast beautiful scenery and rich fishing resources thus are very suitable for developing tourism.

According to Tong Zeng, President of Zhongxiang Investment Co., Ltd and President of Chinese Civilian Association for Safeguarding Diaoyu Islands, the application for this trip has been filed to the department concerned. The trip, a legal investigation within the territory of China, will completely go in line with laws of the People's Republic of China thus any disturbance against the investigation will be regarded as aggression and infringement upon the sovereignty and dignity of China.

With the enactment and enforcement of the "Provisions on the Administration of the Protection and Utilization of Islands with no Residents," the development of the water resources of Diaoyu Islands has been put on agenda. The joint investigation organized by several departments is unveiling the civilian legal development of the sea resources of the Diaoyu Islands, Tong said.
