tested a medium-range surface-to-air missile on Tuesday at a seaside test range, the Press Trust of India reported.
"Akash," which means "sky" in Hindi, was tested at the Chandipur-on-Sea test site in the eastern state of Orissa, the PTI said.
The locally built multi-target missile weighs 650 kilograms and can carry a 50-kilogram payload, and its range is 25 kilometers, said the PTI.
