HK to ensure smooth implementation of CEPA: Tung Chee Hwa
To ensure the smooth implementation of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) is the major task of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government over the next 12 to 18 months, said Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa here Monday.
To ensure the smooth implementation of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) is the major task of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government over the next 12 to 18 months, said Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa here Monday.
Addressing at a Joint Business Community luncheon, Tung said that the government should make sure the full benefit of CEPA can be felt by Hong Kong's businesses and professionals.
"It is clear that Hong Kong's future depends on ensuring accessto the mainland market for our businesses and our professionals, and on building on our capacities to service the trade and investment needs of the mainland." said Tung.
He said CEPA would be a tremendous benefit to Hong Kong.
Tung also said that the government will try to consolidate the core activities in areas of financial services, logistics, tourismand trade and trade-related support services.
The government will do its best to support the business communities with necessary policies. The government will also continue to support medium and small enterprises and the work of professionals, according to Tung.
