Launch of 'Shenzhou VI' scheduled in 2nd half of 2005, to carry more than one astronaut

The launch of "Shenzhou VI" spacecraft is scheduled in the second half of next year and it will carry more than one astronaut and stay more than one day in space, according to a report by Chengdu Evening newspaper Thursday Jan 8.

The launch of "Shenzhou VI" spacecraft is scheduled in the second half of next year, as learned from Huang Chunping, general director of the launching of "Shenzhou V", China's first manned spacecraft.

The successful launch of "Shenzhou V" not only boosted national pride but injected confidence into the research of the next spacecraft. "Shenzhou VI" will carry more than one astronaut and stay more than one day in space, Huang told reporter very affirmatively, and the next aim of China's space program is to set up space station and laboratory.

China successfully launched its first manned mission, Shenzhou V in 2003, and now has 10 large-scale satellites in the pipeline for this year.
