China's top men's hurdler Liu Xiang has begun a month-long Olympic training program along with more than seventy other elite Chinese track and field athletes.

20-year-old Liu Xiang took a historic bronze medal in the men's 110-meter hurdle event at last year's World Championships.

There are great hopes for him at the upcoming Athens Olympic Games.

Liu Xiang's coach, Sun Haiping says the winter training will focus on adjusting his running rhythm and improving strength,

"Compared to top American and European hurdlers, Liu Xiang is clearly not strong enough. So during the winter training session, we will focus on improving his physical strength."
