The Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, one of the world three largest toys fairs, opened Tuesday. It attracted over 1,800 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions, a record number in the fair's history.
Edmund Young, Chairman of Toys Advisory Committee attached to Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair, held alongside the toys fair, also attracted over 220 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions.
Young said Hong Kong continues to lead the world as the largest toy exporter and Asia's trading hub for stationery and office products. These two trade fairs show that Hong Kong continues to be one of the best global market places for souring products and doing business in the two sectors.
Young said the Toys & Games Fair, sponsored by Hong Kong Trade Development Council, includes two special interest sections, hobby goods and bicycles.
He believed that the timely linkup of prospective buyers and vendors, the exchange of market place knowledge and the showcasing of issues that lie at the heart of each industry are the fundamentals of the two fairs.
In the first 10 months this year, the trade volume of Hong Kong toys reached 8.14 billion US dollars, up 2 percent over last year' s same period.
