New trading body across Taiwan Straits formed

A new trading body was established in the Chinese mainland to spur on economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Straits. Li Shuilin is the Chairman of the unofficial Economic and Trade Exchange Association.

A new trading body was established in the Chinese mainland to spur on economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Straits. Li Shuilin is the Chairman of the unofficial Economic and Trade Exchange Association.

"The Association will help us set up ties with non-government organizations and business groups in Taiwan through such means as trade talks and symposiums. We will work with these groups in Taiwan to look into problems on trading and investment across the Straits so as to facilitate such activities."

He said the new trading body will also work to address problems arising in this field and strive to better protect the interests of enterprises and individuals.

The Association, which is composed of enterprises, research institutes and individuals, represents various groups.

"The establishment of the Association reflects the sincere efforts of the Chinese mainland in pushing forward trade exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Straits."
