2004 world junior speed skating championships to start in Beijing

The 2004 world junior short track speed skating championships will kickoff in Beijing on Friday, it was announced by the organizers here Monday.

The 2004 world junior short track speed skating championships will kickoff in Beijing on Friday, it was announced by the organizers here Monday.

A total of 134 skaters from 28 countries and regions will takepart in the annual event in which 10 events were included.

Wang Yitao, the Chairman of the organizing committee, said that the championships will provide a good opportunity of exchanging experiences and improvement to the participating junior skaters of different countries and regions.

The world men's 1000-meter record holder Kim dong-sung of South Korea and American star skater Apolo Anton Ohno, a double medalist at the Salt Lake City Olympics, were both the winners of World Junior Championships.
