The NBA club Toronto Raptors traded Chinese center Mengke Bateer to the Orlando Magic for Scottish forward Robert Archibald on January 2.
Bateer averaged 1.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in seven games with Toronto after he signed as a free agent on July 17, 2003.
The Raptors gave Orlando the rights to 2003 second-round draft choice Remon Van de Hare and the option to exchange second-round draft positions at the 2005 draft.
Archibald, the first native of Scotland to appear in an NBA game, has three points and two rebounds in two games this season.
Orlando acquired Archibald from Phoenix on Dec. 26 for a future conditional second round pick.
