The gas blowout that killed 233 people in southwestern China's Chongqing Municipality ten days ago has been identified as an accident due to negligence, according to the investigation team of the State Council Friday.
The team reached initial conclusion that the super draught in the gas well was underestimated, the techniques for drilling such a sulfur-dense well were not mature, the liquid for drilling was wrongly affused and its circulation time was insufficient.
These were the main causes of the accident, the investigators said.
Meanwhile, a valve related to pressure control was mistakenly removed from the equipment, which was the direct cause that made the gas blowout out of control, according to the investigators.
The team will work further to identify those responsible for the accident.
