China will issue 10 million coins on Jan. 6th, 2004, to mark the New Year, the central bank announced Tuesday.
An official with the People's Bank of China said one side of the coin had the words for the bank, one yuan and 2004 while the other side featured Chinese children in traditional gowns flying kites.
The coin, minted in a brass alloy, has a face value of one yuan(0.12 US dollars), and will go into general circulation.
