Relief goods reach victims of gas blowout accident

Some 42,247 local residents have been relocated safely as of Friday night from areas hit by a toxic gas blowout, said a spokesperson with Kaixian County in Chongqing Municipality.

Some 42,247 local residents have been relocated safely as of Friday night from areas hit by a toxic gas blowout, said a spokesperson with Kaixian County in Chongqing Municipality.

Some 18,864 victims sought shelter from friends or relatives and 23,383 are living in 14 sites assigned by the county government, including schools and public buildings.

The county has been dispensing relief from neighboring counties,districts and the Chinese People's Liberation Army Chongqing Garrison, including 10,680 quilts, 5,675 overcoats and 1,478 boxesof food, the spokesperson said.
