The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Friday condemned the United States for its deployment of ultra-modern weapons in the demilitarized zone southof the Military Demarcation Line (MDL), warming the move poses a serious threat to peace and stability on Korean Peninsula and surrounding area.
The KCNA said in a commentary that according to Los Angeles Times, the Bush administration is now deploying ultra-modern weapons it tested in Iraq and Afghanistan in the demilitarized zone south of the MDL.
It was a wanton violation of the Korean Armistice Agreement anda very dangerous political and military provocation that threatened peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and areas around, and escalated the danger of the outbreak of a new war, thecommentary said.
It said that as already known, the United States was talking much about dialogue, and was holding forth about a diplomatic and peaceful solution to the nuclear issue between the DPRK and itself.
The master key to the peaceful settlement of the issue is that the United States renounces its hostile policy toward the DPRK and removes its threat of military aggression, nuclear threat in particular. That is why the DPRK has consistently asked the UnitedStates to drop its hostile policy toward the DPRK, and attached great significance to it in bilateral dialogue, it said.
The Bush administration, however, has turned down the justifiable and reasonable proposals of the DPRK, persistently asserting that it should scrap its nuclear program first. This, inessence, was a brigandish demand -- that the DPRK unilaterally abandon its self-defensive deterrent it has built up to cope with US military provocation and threat of war, it added.
The United States had refused the DPRK's proposal of a package solution to solve the nuclear issue based on the principle of simultaneous actions.
The army and the people of the DPRK would never remain passive on-lookers towards the US military move against a backdrop of its resumption of the smaller nukes development for the strategy of a preemptive attack, and its arms build-up and full-scale relocationof its troops, it said.
