China reiterates sovereignty over Diaoyu Islands

China reiterated its sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands and adjacent islands in the East China Seaas an integral part of China's territory at the 14th China-Japan consultations on the law of the sea held in Tokyo, Japan, on Thursday.

China reiterated its sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands and adjacent islands in the East China Sea as an integral part of China's territory at the 14th China-Japan consultations on the law of the sea held in Tokyo, Japan, on Thursday.

Liu Zhenmin, director-general of the Chinese Foreign Ministry's Department of Treaty and Law, and Shinyichi Nishimiya, councilor of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, attended the consultations.

The two sides exchanged views on the exclusive economic zone in the East China Sea, demarcation of continental shelf and other marine issues of mutual concern.
