East China's Shandong Province wouldlaunch a rural medical care financing plan beginning next year, toensure more rural patients' medical treatment, said Wang Junmin, vice governor of Shandong Province.
Wang said at a recent meeting on rural medical care that every year Shandong would respectively take 5 percent of the provincial revenue from welfare lottery sales and 3 million yuan (362,756 US dollars) from rural poverty-alleviation funds, in addition to social charity donations in financing the medical treatment of rural residents.
The financial aids would cover people's medical charges at bothlocal and urban hospitals, said Wang.
Elderly childless people, families with low income or stricken by natural disasters could apply for the financing, said Wang.
The provincial government would strictly supervise the use of aiding funds, said Wang.
